Programs & Incentives

All community economic development incentives are coordinated through the La Vernia Municipal Development District (LVMDD) and requests for information regarding incentives should be directed to the LVMDD Executive Director. Economic development incentives are negotiated on a case-by-case basis subject to the qualifications, conditions and requirements fully described within a performance agreement and subject to the approval of the La Vernia Municipal Development District Board of Directors. Depending on the size and scope of the incentive, some incentives may also require approval from the La Vernia City Council.

Texas Economic Development and Tax Incentives

Texas is built for business, and La Vernia is ready for what’s next. The La Vernia Municipal Development District helps businesses, developers, and investors connect with local incentives, resources, data, and support to make growth easier. No unnecessary confusion, just a local team ready to help you move forward.

Why Texas Leads the Nation in Business Growth

Texas has been a leading destination for business growth for more than two decades, and for good reason. With no personal or corporate income tax, a strong and growing workforce, and one of the largest economies in the world, Texas gives businesses room to grow, invest, and succeed.

Texas offers:

  • A workforce of more than 15 million people

  • One of the largest economies in the world

  • The No. 1 export state in the U.S. for more than two decades

  • Millions of small businesses and a strong Fortune 500 presence

  • A proven track record for corporate relocations and expansions

Business Incentives

The La Vernia Municipal Development District (LVMDD) works to encourage business development, investment, expansion, and improvements within the City of La Vernia.

Half-Cent Sales Tax

The LVMDD is funded through a half-cent local sales tax dedicated to economic development.

These funds may be used for eligible projects allowed under Chapter 377 of the Texas Local Government Code that benefit, strengthen, and diversify La Vernia's economy.

Chapter 377 Economic Development Agreements

The LVMDD may consider economic development agreements for qualifying projects that provide a benefit to the La Vernia community.

Depending on the project, assistance may include:

  • Business development incentives

  • Grants or financial assistance

  • Infrastructure or public improvements

  • Support for qualifying expansion or redevelopment projects

  • Other eligible economic development assistance

Each project is evaluated individually and is subject to eligibility requirements and approval by the LVMDD Board.

Façade Improvement Grant

The LVMDD Façade Improvement Grant Program helps local businesses improve the exterior appearance of their properties while enhancing La Vernia's commercial areas.

Qualifying businesses may receive up to 50% of the cost of eligible improvements, not to exceed $5,000.

Preference may be given to properties located within the Central Business District or properties designated as historically significant by the State of Texas.
